Trying to reach that magical 5-star rating on freelance platforms? It's not easy. But it can make your business as successful as a blockbuster movie.

When I started freelancing, I came at each role with a client-first attitude. I wanted them to think my performance was Oscar-worthy.

Embracing an iterative approach, I hit milestones and got sign-offs before moving on. The result? I was basking in the glory of rave reviews and recurring roles.

It got me so excited I started preparing my acceptance speech. You know what happened next?

Some of my repeat clients forgot to leave feedback for our new collaborations.

In the end, my profile showed a mix of 5-star ratings and "Review not Provided". Ugh.

Despite this, my efforts paid off. The high ratings led to more sales and opportunities.

To ensure your business is a box office hit, do whatever it takes to earn those stars. Be proactive and build the ask into your workflow at the appropriate time.

They can make the difference between a steady stream of work and fading into the background as an extra.
