Growing your subscription base involves more than just hitting publish on your latest blog post.
To truly gain the attention of your target audience (and Google), you need to spend time promoting your content in multiple locations.
Here are 25 ways to increase SEO, traffic, comments, shares, and subscribers.
Social media promotion
Before you continue on, there is one important thing you must remember: Each social media platform is unique. Do not underestimate how vital it is to allow time to write a post or create an image specifically designed for each particular community. It could make the difference between comments and crickets.
1. Twitter
Post your article to Twitter and then schedule several additional tweets to go out over the course of the week.
To make the most of this strategy, put a new spin on these tweets by changing up your original article title. This allows you to A/B test which verbiage performs and which falls flat.
2. Pinterest
Take advantage of this unique magazine-style visual powerhouse to share your content with an image optimized for maximum pinning.
There are many ways to create that perfect Pinterest image. However, according to Curalate, images that:
- Do not include a human face to get more pins
- Are shot against a plain white background receive more pins
- Have red in them get more shares
- Are shot portrait style receive more pins
Take the time to create an image that clearly expresses the value behind your article as opposed to simply pinning your featured image.
3. Facebook
Make it a habit of posting your article to Facebook with your newly created graphic and a quick and simple status update relevant to your blog on your Facebook page.
Don't forget to provide a link to the discussed articles. At the same time, place eye-catching advertisements on Facebook to further promote your new articles.
4. LinkedIn
You can share your latest article to your LinkedIn profile, plus any group you manage or belong to that allows you to share your own content.
Many groups on LinkedIn and Facebook frown on "link dropping" so make sure to read the group rules before making that mistake.
5. YouTube
Consider turning your post into a video. Did you offer tips or a how-to? Take one tip and share it in a quick 15-30 second video. Then direct viewers to your site for further information on the subject.
6. Instagram
You can use Instagram in a variety of ways to promote your latest blog post. Post an image with a caption, share a tip, ask a question, or simply point them to your blog.
Jenn Herman, a social media strategist in San Diego, CA, does a terrific job notifying her Instagram followers of each new blog post.
Blogger communities
There is nothing worse than writing a post only to find that you and a handful of close friends are the only ones who have read it. You put blood, sweat, and tears into each post; wouldn't you like it to reach a larger audience?
Blogger communities are a way to connect with individuals actively writing about your niche or topic. You are able to engage, build alliances, and assist each other in spreading one another's content.
Four communities that I am a member of and would highly recommend are:
9. Triberr
Triberr is an amazing resource and community designed to amplify your message by getting it in front of a much larger audience. Add your blog, find a tribe, and begin to share your posts with those longing to find your content.
10. Social Buzz Club
I have been a member of Social Buzz Club for over two years and love this community. Similar to Triberr, you add your latest post, choose your category or niche, and then share it with those eager to pass along your content with their fans and followers.
11. Biz Blogging Buzz
Founded by Kimberly Castleberry, Biz Blogging Buzz or B3 is a community designed to "connect, mastermind, make friends, learn from others, help others, provide value, showcase your talents, get your message out and have your voice heard, gain traffic to your website, monetize your passion and ultimately BE YOURSELF in business."
12. Viral Content Buzz
Founded by Ann Smarty, owner of MyBlogGuest.com, Viral Content Buzz works off of a points system. You share other bloggers' content, earn points, and then add your content to be shared. Whether the community you join is a group of like-minded professionals or an established platform such as Triberr, joining forces with bloggers talking in and around your topic or niche is a great way to establish rapport, boost credibility, and increase your reach.
Bookmark (manual)
Bookmarking sites can open your content up to millions of potential viewers actively searching for content within your niche or specialty. Make this a must-do each and every time you publish a new post!
My top five:
13. Digg
Digg is a news aggregator and social news website that categorizes content and makes curation based on a topic very simple.
14. Reddit
Reddit is a unique social bookmarking and social news website with a very unique community. Search by "sub-Reddits" that act as categories.
15. StumbleUpon

17. Delicious
Delicious is one of the first social bookmarking tools I used and continue to use to this day. It's an easy way to bookmark, categorize, and share your content.
Bookmark (automated)
If you are opposed to posting individually to each site or simply don't have the time, there are tools to help you automate the process. Each will auto-submit your latest post to the top social bookmarking sites.
18. Onlywire
Onlywire is a huge timesaver when it comes to automating your bookmarking submissions. It is a tool that allows you to quickly and securely submit content to top social media networks like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
19. SocialMarker
SocialMarker works on a smaller scale than Onlywire allowing you to submit links to more than two dozen social bookmarking sites all from one convenient location.
20. SocialADR
SocialAdr is a free tool where you can submit to multiple bookmarking sites to quickly promote your sites and boost your rankings.
Bookmark (WordPress plugins)
Also, make sure your blog offers the ability to bookmark your posts. There are many plugins that include the popular bookmarking sites I listed above that will add social sharing buttons to each of your posts.
21. Sociable
22. Shareaholic (sexy bookmarks)
23. Nextscripts
Guest post
24. Guest posts
They are an excellent way to leverage the audience already associated with a larger blog. It will allow you to share content within your niche with a whole new group of people. Plus, you can typically include 1-2 links back to relevant articles on your website.
Do your research and determine which sites within your niche accept guest posts. Then put together an introduction letter. Not sure how? Here's a great resource from Peg Fitzpatrick to get you started!
Commenting
25. Comment on other blogs
This is a strategy often overlooked. Commenting on blogs that fall within your niche is an excellent way to create strategic relationships and connect with influencers within your niche.Research the top 25 blogs within your niche and begin to comment on their latest posts. This will build rapport and raise awareness around you and your personal brand.
